Saskatchewan has an excellent education system and the education standards at the secondary and post secondary levels are second to none. The two universities in Saskatchewan are leaders in a number of areas. The province's four campuses of its technical institute (SIAST) provide quality training in all of the key industrial skills areas.
Training Incentives for Employers
The JobStart/Future Skills program links training to employment. The program provides a range of skills training solutions for Saskatchewan people. This program provides recognized training and employment opportunities for Saskatchewan people, provides employers with skilled workers, retrains employed workers for new technology or work processes, helps industry and enables public training institutions to respond quickly to industry needs.
JobStart/Future Skills will provide up to 50 percent of approved training costs for each trainee. The maximum available per trainee will depend on the size of the business. The government of Saskatchewan has recognized the importance of a trained and skilled workforce and have implemented this incentive to attract businesses to the province. Companies located in Saskatchewan have access t one of the most efficient labour forces and have an incentive to provide additional training to further increase the labour force's productivity.
