The Economic Development and Planning Department is in the process of updating The City of Prince Albert Policy Plan, 1987 (Development Plan). It has been more than 17 years since the Plan was approved and it is essential that it be updated in light of several demographic and development changes. A Development Plan is described under Section 51 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 and will flow from and be consistent with the City of Prince Albert Strategic Plan. Updating the Plan also involves integrating all of the most recent plans developed since 1987 such as The Downtown Strategic Plan (2004), The Community Action Plan on Homelessness and Housing (2004), The West Hill Master Plan (1999), the Highway Commercial Land Use Study (2001) and the River Park Master Plan (2005).
The Department conducted a review of the 1987 Policy Plan with the various City Departments to evaluate what has been working and what has not been working.
